"In the River" is the theme of the chamber music matinees this season. Our musicians around Yukiko Ishibashi have chosen the motto "In the flow of folklore. Flowing Borders". Tchaikovsky wrote about his string serenade: "The bigger the string orchestra, the better! Mozart's last Divertimento in F major was also called the "Salzburg Symphony". Bartók's "Romanian Dances", in turn, were written as a piano suite. So which instrumentation is best for the respective composition? These pieces have been arranged a great deal and played in a wide variety of combinations. Since the boundaries between chamber and orchestral music are fluid, our musicians also play in different instrumentations in order to alternate between a large orchestral sound and fine chamber music nuances.
