Raphael Nussbaumer received a gift for his baptism that left a lasting impression on him: a violin. And from then on, the Swiss never let go of the instrument. He received his first violin lessons at the age of four, and two years later he was accepted into the Zurich Conservatory. And now, at 17, he presents an enormously varied programme: a sonata by the grand seigneur of the Belgian violin school Eugène Ysaÿe and "The Red Violin Caprices" by John Corigliano, who composed the Oscar-winning film score for "Le Violon rouge" (2000). Not only solo, but in duo with the Ukrainian pianist Kateryna Tereshchenko, Raphael Nussbaumer has chosen a ballad by the French romantic Théodore Dubois.
