And in the midst of the creation of these great works: the Divertimento in E flat major, which is not only his longest chamber music work, but was also called Mozart's "noblest" by Alfred Einstein. Eight years earlier, he had already given chamber music another groundbreaking work. With the Oboe Quartet in F major, K. 370, he not only made it possible for ensembles such as the nonet, which Louis Spohr would later pursue further, to take their first steps, but also gave the oboe a concerto in a small format.
