City thaler for Martin Vollenwyder
Our former Chairman of the Board of Directors was honoured for his commitment to the Tonhalle- Orchester Zürich.
Martin Vollenwyder has been committed to the Tonhalle-Gesellschaft Zürich and the orchestra for over twenty years - first as Vice President of the Board of Directors and for the last 11 years as its President. Mayor Corine Mauch honoured him with the Stadttaler at a ceremony in the Muraltengut.
According to a press release, Martin Vollenwyder "oversaw the change in directorship as well as several changes at the conductor's podium", "he led the institution through the coronavirus pandemic and the four-year renovation period of the Tonhalle am See and drove the transition from an association to a public limited company. As a fundraiser with a large network, he has repeatedly contributed to the financing of the Tonhalle-Orchester." In other respects, too, he has repeatedly supported various cultural institutions on both a large and small scale, thus contributing a great deal to a "lively and diverse cultural city of Zurich".
We congratulate our former President on this well-deserved honour and would like to take this opportunity to thank him once again for his great commitment!
