Good buildings in the city of Zurich

Award for Tonhalle and Congress Centre

Ten Zurich buildings have been honoured by the city of Zurich. The renovated Kongresshaus and Tonhalle Zurich building complex is also among them.

The city of Zurich has been honouring successful buildings and open spaces for around 80 years. In the current 19th round, ten projects realised in the years 2021 to 2024 were honoured; six more received recognition. The honoured buildings include the Kongresshaus and Tonhalle Zürich building complex, which was extensively renovated between 2017 and 2021. "I am delighted to receive this award," says Ilona Schmiel, Director of the Tonhalle-Gesellschaft Zürich. "Four years have now passed since we moved back into the renovated Tonhalle, and we are still thrilled by the colours in the hall and the restored view of the lake from the foyer at every concert."

Other award-winning buildings include the south wing of the main railway station, the new module for temporary sports buildings, the Allmend school complex and the WolkenWerk high-rise ensemble. In addition to an award, the new children's hospital also received the public award.

All the winning projects will be on display at ZAZ Bellerive until 9 November. There will also be a podium discussion on 5 November.
