Ahmet Aslan – Gitarre, Bağlama und Di-Tar
Door opening 19.30 Uhr
Duration: 90 minutes without break
Hailing from Dersim in Turkey, Ahmet Aslan is a contemporary musician of Kurdish Zaza descent and a master of the guitar, saz, and bağlama. Singing in Kurdish, Zazaki, and Turkish, Ahmet blends Mesopotamian music with contemporary global sounds, thereby reinventing and reinterpreting ancient folk songs for the 21st century. Studying at Codarts in Rotterdam and after serious discussions with musicians, such as Martin Greve, Paco Peña, Carlo Domeniconi, and Antonis Anissegos, he developed the Di-Tar,an instrument that combines the classical guitar with the bağlama. Ahmet Aslan is well known for his soulful voice and his mastery on many Anatolian string instruments. Having produced over nine albums and many a soundtrack for Turkish TV shows, Ahmet toured around the globe including world-famous music festivals, such as Rudolstadt. For the first time, he will play on our jazzhane stages both in Geneva at Al Hambra and in Zurich at Tonhalle.
