Vivi Vassileva experienced her initial enthusiasm for percussion as a child on the Black Sea coast of Bulgaria, when she saw and heard how music was played on hand drums. Thanks to her first Chilean percussion teacher, she learnt that the styles of this instrument in particular differ from culture to culture, resulting in enormous diversity for the performers. Her repertoire is correspondingly wide-ranging, which she demonstrates on the stages of international concert organisers. As a central figure in the succession of Martin Grubinger, she is therefore in a special spotlight. She also uses this position to expand her repertoire for percussion solo but also in combination with other instruments. It will therefore be interesting to see what she will present in her concert in Zurich accompanied by pianist Frank Dupree.
