Schubert's "Winterreise" for baritone and accordion? Yes, it is possible, at least when our former Focus artist Ksenija Sidorova is involved. The Latvian accordionist demonstrates time and again how versatile her instrument is, how effortlessly it transcends stylistic boundaries between classical, pop and tango. Now she and baritone Thomas Hampson - who was a regular guest at Zurich Opera House for many years - are embarking on a large-scale tour with excerpts from what is probably the most famous song cycle of all. And they also strike a completely different note in songs by Kurt Weill, among others.
