DESCRIPTION:Our Creative Chair Thomas Adès and our focus artist Kirill Gerstein have been artist friends for many years. In the week leading up to this concert, they will present a programme conducted by Thomas Adès, featuring his piano concerto, which was written for Kirill Gerstein. And now they will sit down behind the keys together for a pianistic condensation of Adès' successful chamber opera "Powder Her Face". For three pieces by Ligeti, which are based on a relatively simple musical idea that subsequently transforms and branches out in constant movement - and in the process also incorporates small homages to the minimalists Steve Reich and Terry Riley, to Chopin and Schumann.
