SUMMARY:Chamber music matinee
DESCRIPTION:Even as a 15-year-old, Richard Strauss adored Mozart: "This wealth of ideas, this richness of harmony and yet the moderation, the marvellous, lovely, delicate, delicious thoughts themselves" - all of this was "the greatest pleasure" for him, he wrote in a letter. Works by the two composers now face each other in this chamber music matinee: Mozart's last string quintet on the one hand, and the "Metamorphosen" by Richard Strauss, who was already 81 years old at the time, which premiered in Zurich in 1946, on the other. Two late works (if one can even speak of late works in the case of Mozart) - and two examples of the musical "wealth of ideas" of their creators.\n\nWolfgang Amadeus Mozart Streichquintett Nr. 6 Es-Dur KV 614\n\n -\n\nRichard Strauss «Metamorphosen» (Fassung für Streichseptett Rudolf Leopold)
