SUMMARY:Jan Willem de Vriend with Handel's "Messiah"
DESCRIPTION:Unfortunately, Sara Fulgoni and Florian Boesch have fallen ill. We are very grateful that Constantin Zimmermann (alto) and Hanno Müller-Brachmann (bass) have stepped in at short notice.

Dutch early music specialist Jan Willem de Vriend has been working on baroque repertoire with the orchestra for years, often choosing little-known works. This time it's different: with Handel's "Messiah", he conducts what is probably the most famous oratorio of all. De Vriend's aim is not just to give another performance of a hit, but also to show how diverse Handel's musical language is in this work, how broad the emotional and stylistic spectrum is. The conductor once said that "in addition to knowledge and experience, you also need imagination, intuition and curiosity" to create more than just a beautiful sound. He has plenty of all that.\n\nGeorg Friedrich Händel «Messiah» HWV 56
