SUMMARY:Festtags-Matinee
DESCRIPTION:"In flux" is the theme of this season's chamber music matinees. In keeping with this, our musicians led by Lisa Schnayder Taub have named their programme "In the flow of time, in the flow of tradition". Johann Sebastian Bach and Felix Mendelssohn have had a special connection over the centuries. Even Mozart wrote: "Bach is the father, we are the boys. Those of us who can do something right have learnt it from him." Mendelssohn rescued Bach's music from oblivion. Together with his teacher C.F. Zelter, he rediscovered the works and performed them for the first time in decades. He arranged Bach's lively Preludio for solo violin for violin and piano: with unique harmonies and fresh colours. 15 years earlier, the then 16-year-old Mendelssohn delighted audiences with his Octet in E flat major at the "Sonntagsmusiken" concert series in his family home in Berlin. A work that bubbles over with youthful vivacity and joy.\n\nJohann Sebastian Bach Konzert d-Moll BWV 1043 für zwei Violinen, Streicher und Basso continuo\n\n Preludio E-Dur BWV 1006 aus der Partita Nr. 3 für Violine solo, mit einer Klavierbegleitung von Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy\n\nFelix Mendelssohn Bartholdy Oktett Es-Dur op. 20 MWV R 20
