At the request of our honorary conductor David Zinman, there is a programme adjustment.
Beethoven cycle, Schumann cycle, Mahler cycle: David Zinman has honoured many composers with complete performances and recordings during his time as chief conductor of the Tonhalle Orchestra. Bruckner was not one of them - unfortunately. Because the fact that Zinman also has a deep relationship with this composer could be experienced in 2016 during his first return after his resignation. At that time, he conducted Symphony No. 5, which was originally also planned for this concert. Now, however, our honorary conductor has changed his mind - and combines Beethoven's overture "The Consecration of the House" with Bruckner's Symphony No. 4. How transparent and cantabile he knows how to shape this music will undoubtedly also be heard in this programme.
